Mary  Ottinger
Mrs. Mary E. Ottinger, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Bluffs.

Mary was born June 30, 1925 in Jefferson City, Mo. the daughter of Harry D. and Georgia M. (Leach) Gibler. She was married on August 10, 1947 in Jefferson City, Mo. to James L. Ottinger who preceded her in death on November 10, 2002.

Mary was a 1943 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo. in 1945. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo.

A homemaker, Mary had been employed with several insurance companies and with the Missouri State Auditor’s Office as an Audit and Accounting Clerk. She retired from working with the Jefferson City Public Schools and had various positions throughout her tenure.

Mary was an active long time member of the First Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Saints Alive Sunday School Class. She was involved with the church’s music program and enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a member of the Friendship Singers.

Mary will be remembered for her caring heart and providing holiday dinners for family and friends who needed a place to gather.

Survivors include: one daughter-in-law, Nancy Ottinger of Jefferson City, Mo.; a host of good friends; and her beloved church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of fifty-five years, James Ottinger; and one son, David L. Ottinger on January 1, 2001.

Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church, 301 E. Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, Mo. 65101 or the St. Joseph Bluff’s Benevolent Fund, 1306 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.
