Obituary for Grace Scott

Grace Scott
Mrs. Grace Eleanor Scott, age 93 years, of Eugene, Mo., died Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Lee House in Eldon, Mo.

Grace was born on November 30, 1924 in St. Louis, Mo. a daughter of Oscar and Marie (Wehmeyer) Sander. She was married on March 15, 1944 in Pipestone, Mn. to Warren Donald Scott.

Grace graduated from Pilgrim Lutheran School in Freedom, Mo. where her parents operated the store in nearby Useful, Mo.

After settling in Jefferson City, Grace started work at Overman’s Pants Factory in 1943. After raising their son, she went back to work for Employment Security from 1963 – 1990.

Grace was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, Mo.

She thoroughly enjoyed being at the family farm gardening, mushroom hunting, and gatherings with family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting, playing cards, and adoring her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: her son, Wesley Scott (Betty) of Eugene, Mo.; two grandchildren, Donald Scott (Jessica) of Columbia, Mo. and Amy Runnels (Patrick) of Shaker Heights, Oh.; and four great-grandchildren, River and Rayelle Scott and Ian and Jillian Runnels.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, and her siblings, George Sander, Margaret Wachter, Viola Hilgert, and Evelyn Points.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Sam Powell officiating. Graveside services will follow at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Lutheran High School.
