Obituary for Barbara Cartmill

Barbara Cartmill
Ms. Barbara Jean Cartmill, 66, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Capital Region Medical Center.

Barbara was born on September 2, 1951 in Kansas City, Mo. a daughter of the late Warren and Betty Jane (Harris) Cartmill.

She retired in 2008 from St. Mary’s Health Center after many years with the housekeeping department.

Barbara loved all things relating to Elvis Presley. She had many Elvis memorabilia in her home and enjoyed listening to his songs. Barbara also had a variety of elephant collectibles, and enjoyed watching TV and shopping.

Survivors include: her significant other of 17 years, Alan Jackson of Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Christina J. Morrow of Kansas City, Mo., Kimberly L. Cochran (Keith) of Richmond, Mo., and Heather Moraine (Mike) of Raytown, Mo.; one son, Larry O. Cartmill of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Edna Gunn (Tommy) of Malvern, Arkansas and Kathy Caraway (Jim) of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four brothers, Vernon Grissom (Susan) of Jefferson City, Mo., Robert Cartmill (Suzanna) of Sarasota, Florida, Steve Cartmill (Cindy) of Arlington, Texas, and William Grissom (Sherri) of Hamburg, New Jersey; ten grandchildren, Tyler Morrow, Elizabeth Morrow, Codey Webb, Mariah Webb, Kyler Cartmill, Warren Cochran, Hannah Cochran, Caitlin Cochran, Sapphire Moraine and Mikey Moraine; and a great-granddaughter expected in August.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Cartmill, and sister, Sharon Cartmill.

Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018.

A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 in the Freeman Chapel with her brother-in-law, Tommy Gunn officiating.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
