Mr. Clyde Herman Frank Korsmeyer, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 1, 1935 in the Honey Creek Community, the eldest son of the late Oscar O. and Rosetta M. (Stubinger) Korsmeyer. He was married on May 1, 1955 in Lohman, Mo. to Leorae Seavers who preceded him in death on March 5, 2005. On September 7, 2013 in Jefferson City he married Helen Renae Brown Scheperle.
A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Clyde attended St. Paul’s College in Concordia, Mo., and Russellville High School.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 63 years.
Clyde was employed as a Department Manager for Kroger Grocery for 17 years. In 1968, he went to work for Missouri Farm Bureau, retiring as Claims Supervisor after 27 years on July 31, 1995.
Clyde loved working with his hands and had a talent for wood working. He enjoyed baseball and softball as a young man playing on many local teams. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and boating at the Lake of the Ozarks. Clyde loved to travel and took many wonderful trips. He loved his buddies in his coffee klatch at Rainbow Market and playing golf with his friends, especially his buddy Duane. He never met a stranger and was known for his kind and jovial nature and his wonderful hugs.
Survivors include: his wife, Renae Korsmeyer; two sons, Mark Korsmeyer (Patti) of Clearwater Beach, Fl. and Daniel Korsmeyer of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter, Rebecca Wilbers of Jefferson City, Mo.; step-son, Kris Scheperle (Jennifer) of Lohman, Mo.; brother, Edgar Korsmeyer (Nancy) of Jefferson City, Mo.; brothers-in-law, Russell Seaver (Gayle) of Springfield, Mo., Mark Brown (Stephanie) of Russellville, Mo., and Robb Brown (Beth) of Springfield, Mo.; sister-in-law, Lynne Waisner (Gary) of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah Shinn (Josh), Megan Korsmeyer and Ryan Korsmeyer (Kayla Wainwright, fiancée); four step-grandchildren, Hannah, Charlie, Elly and Adam Scheperle; and one great-grandchild, Clayton Ray Korsmeyer.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Korsmeyer.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Friday, May 4, 2018.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Reverend Sam Powell officiating. Graveside services will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Lohman, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Calvary Lutheran High School, Bethesda Lutheran Home, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
