Obituary for Shalene Simpson

Shalene Simpson
Shalene Ann Simpson, age 47, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 11, 1970 in Sacramento, Ca., a daughter of Robert and Lynnette (Brown) Simpson. A resident of the central Missouri area since 1985, Shalene graduated from Mexico High School in 1988.

She began her employment as a pharmacy technician with Gerbes Pharmacy in Columbia and later became a medical technician in the Cardiac Step Down Unit at SSM Heath St. Mary’s Hospital. She was currently working in the office at Scholastic, Inc.

Shalene was a kind and generous person who always put others needs before her own. She had a heart of gold and lovingly adopted her two children in February 2017. Her dreams were to be a mother and her biggest accomplishment was the adoption of her beloved children.

With a bigger than life personality, Shalene was always surrounded by friends, family and laughter. She was loved by everyone who came to know her and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: her children, Jessica Simpson and Joshua Simpson, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; her parents, Robert and Lynnette Simpson of Jefferson City, Mo.; maternal grandmother, Janice Brown of Murray, Ut.; her sisters, Cindy (Kevin) Backes of Jefferson City, Mo., Laurel Simpson of Edmund, Ok., and Christine Saunders of Nv.; seven nieces and nephews, Kyle Backes, Samantha Backes, Allyson Bottoms, Logan Bottoms, Dylan Bottoms, Cameron Bottoms, and Maddilyn Bottoms; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 until 1:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4618 Henwick Lane, Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.
