Obituary for Betty Hatfield

Betty Hatfield
Mrs. Betty Lou Hatfield, age 83 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at her home.

Betty was born February 13, 1934 in Neosho, Mo. the daughter of Harland Jackson and Goldie Marie Slaughter Yetter. She was married in 1954 in Neosho, Mo. to William Burke Hatfield who preceded her in death in 2001.

A lifelong resident of the Waynesville and Jefferson City area, Betty was a 1952 graduate of Neosho High School, a 1955 graduate of Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo. and a 1969 graduate of Arkansas State College in Conway, Arkansas. She received her Masters in Education from Drury College in Springfield in 1990.

She was employed as a teacher at East Elementary School in Waynesville, Mo. from 1971 until her retirement in 1994.

Betty was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and was active in the Veterans Widow Support Group in Jefferson City.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time at her condominium at the Lake of the Ozarks. Most importantly, she cherished her time with her family.

Survivors include: two children, Paula M. Brown and her husband Kent of Jefferson City, Mo. and Charles W. Hatfield and his wife Brenda of Jefferson City, Mo.; three sisters, Gloria A. Green of Blue Springs, Mo., Nancy A. Hignite of Neosho, Mo., and Linda S. Baker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, George J. Yetter of Neosho, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kalen A. Brown his wife Holly, Cameron B Brown, Thomas C. Hatfield, and Georgia E. Hatfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:30 am until 11:30 am Friday, October 13, 2017.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am Friday, October 13, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Brian Credille officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be conducted at the Sunset Memorial Estates in Waynesville, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
