Obituary for Guy Howser
Mr. Guy B. Howser, age 85 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Primrose Retirement Community.
Guy was born March 23, 1932 in Ashland, Mo. a son of Willie and Eula (White) Howser. He was married on October 19, 1952 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Audrey Scheperle who preceded him in death on June 5, 2014.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Guy was a graduate of Jefferson City High School and Jefferson City Junior College.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Guy was employed with the Roy A. Scheperle Construction Company for many years. He and Audrey purchased the company in 1979 and later also founded GBH Construction Company until retiring in 2000.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; a member of the Jefferson City Country Club; a charter member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club; and a member of the Bricklayers Union.
Guy was an avid golfer hitting the links with friends and family. Always together, he and Audrey enjoyed fishing, traveling and antiquing. Guy was a talented stained glass artist, giving family and friends pieces for their homes, and also having pieces requested for different places in Jefferson City, including the courthouse.
Guy was a definition of a true gentleman, with his personality and gentle soul, he was easily loved by everyone. Guy and Audrey left their stamp on Jefferson City with their endless dedication and generosity to our community.
Survivors include: two children, Doug Howser and his wife Cindy of Lake Zurich, Illinois and Cheri Morrow and her husband Tim of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother Lee Howser and his wife Norma Jane of Charlotte, Michigan; three grandchildren, Ryan Howser and his wife Jessica, Brianne Earl and her husband Michael, and Rachel Holmberg all of Chicago, Illinois; a great-grandchild, Landon Michael Earl; two nephews, Chris and Steve Howser; and a niece, Julie Kimmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Audrey.
Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 am Saturday, July 29, 2017.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am Saturday July 29, 2017 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Samuel Powell officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery.
