Obituary for Ronald Marsch

Ronald Marsch
Mr. Ronald L. Marsch, age 72 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Capital Region Medical Center.

Ron was born July 18, 1944 in Fulton, Mo. the son of Christian August and Martha E. Humphreys Marsch. He was married on May 29, 1965 in Monroe City, Mo. to Barbara Joan Irick.

A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Ron graduated from Canton High School in Canton, Mo. He received his Bachelor’s degree and his Master’s degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He also received his Specialist in Vocational Education and Administration from the University of Missouri.

Ron became employed with the Jefferson City Public Schools in 1966 teaching Social Studies at Jefferson City High School for eight years. He then served as the Director of the Cooperative Marketing Dept. of Nichols Career Center for twenty-four years until his retirement in 1998. He was proud of his involvement of the DECA Program, taking students to many programs throughout the years.

After retirement from the Jefferson City Public Schools, Ron worked with the Department of Elementary Education in the “Troops to Teachers Program” assisting veterans to obtain the necessary resources to become a teacher.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church serving as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Ron was Past President of the Missouri State Teachers Assn. and Past President of the Missouri Retired Teachers Assn. Ron was also an active leader in local and district teachers’ associations.

Ron was an avid golfer and enjoyed trout fishing, quail hunting, and skiing. Most importantly, he cherished traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife of fifty-one years, Joan Marsch; one daughter, Laura Muhlenbruck and her husband Russell of Columbia, Mo.; one son, David Marsch and his wife Charlotte of Bolivar, Mo.; one sister, Carol Williams and her husband Lemuel of Quincy, Illinois; four grandchildren, Rachel and Gloria Marsch and Elliot and Andersenn Muhlenbruck; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Larry Ronald Marsch.

Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at the Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation or the Jefferson City Public School Foundation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
