Mr.
John H. “Mutt” Fletcher, age 84 years, of Holts Summit, Mo. passed away Friday,
June 15, 2012 at his daughter’s home.
John
was born on December 8, 1927 in Holts Summit, Mo. a son of Walter and Lillian
Meng Fletcher. He was married on August
28, 1948 in Cedar City, Mo. to Martha Jean McCubbin.
A
lifelong resident of Holts Summit, John was employed at the Fulton State
Hospital as a boiler operator from 1961 until his retirement in December
1992. Before his employment at the
hospital, he worked with MKT railroad, the Missouri Supreme Court, and Tweedies
Shoe Factory.
He
was a member of Hickory Point Christian Church in Hickory Point, Mo.
John
was an outdoorsman who loved turkey and deer hunting, fishing, and
farming. He always had cows, horses, and
dogs to tend to. He enjoyed watching
westerns, eating pies and ice cream, and listening to country music, but most
importantly, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors
include: his wife of sixty-three years, Martha Fletcher; one daughter, Lois A.
Alexander and her husband Jon of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son, Allen D.
Fletcher of Holts Summit, Mo.; one sister, Ruth Crocker-Bechel of Holt Summit,
Mo.; five brothers, Harold “Tobe” Fletcher of Morrison, Mo., William “Billy”
Fletcher and his wife Jeannie of Blue Springs, Mo., Raymond “Pete” Fletcher and
his wife Pat of New Bloomfield, Mo., Joe Lee “Runt” Fletcher and his wife Carol
of Holts Summit, Mo. and Bob Fletcher and his wife Linda of Holts Summit, Mo.;
two grandchildren, John A. Fletcher and Kyle A. Fletcher; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation
will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:00 am Monday, June 18,
2012.
Funeral
services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, June 18, 2012 in the Freeman
Chapel with the Reverend Rick Hopkins officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held
at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those
desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the
Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield, Mo.
