Mrs.
Helen M. Burns, age 69 years, of New Bloomfield, Mo. passed away Thursday, June
14, 2012 at St. Mary’s Health Center.
Helen
was born on April 8, 1943 in Callaway County, Mo. a daughter of Floyd, Sr. and
Zella Gertrude Harris Allen. She was
married on October 10, 1970 in Holts Summit, Mo. to Steven L. Burns.
A
lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Helen was employed at Von
Hoffmann Press for several years and with the Missouri Department of Revenue for
seventeen years in mail services until her retirement in 2003.
Helen
enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafts, and time in her garden. Most importantly, she loved spending time
with her family and traveling with her husband during her retirement.
Survivors
include: her husband of forty-one years, Steven Burns; three daughters, Toni
Trimble and her husband Rick of Ozark, Mo., Zella Barnes and her husband Bill
of Fulton, Mo., and Lisa Schaffer of New Bloomfield, Mo.; one son, Darren Burns
of New Bloomfield, Mo.; three sisters, Cartie Wolfe and her husband Jerry of
Linn, Mo., Maggie Burns and her husband Charles of Holts Summit, Mo., and Terry
Klick and her husband John of Fulton, Mo.; two brothers, Kenneth “Sonny” Allen
of Fulton, Mo. and Wallace “Doc” Allen and his wife Debbie of Fulton, Mo.;
twelve grandchildren, Willy, Teddy, Cory, Joe, Donna, Brent, Tiffani, Nikki,
Erica, Matthew, Kyra, and Megan; twelve great grandchildren, Meghan, Reilly,
Conner, Codi, Jayden, Payton, Braxton, Cole, Wyatt, Gavin, Isabella, and Bri.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jenny Lynn Burns on March
22, 1972; two sisters, Betty Witt and Susie Estes; and two brothers, Floyd
Allen, Jr. and Randall Leroy Allen.
Visitation
will be at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, June 18, 2012.
Funeral
services will be conducted at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the Freeman
Chapel with the Reverend Jim Shaver officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held
at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Those
desiring may make memorial contributions to American Lung Association.
