Mr. Lawrence H. “Bernie” Burnett, Jr., age 69 years, of Jefferson City, Mo. passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Villa Marie Nursing Facility.

Mr. Burnett was born on November 8, 1940 in Jefferson City, Mo. the son of Lawrence H., Sr. and Lucy A. Swim Burnett. 

A life long resident of the Central Missouri area, Bernie graduated from Jefferson City High School.

He was employed with the State of Missouri for over 32 years with the Department of Revenue, the Highway Patrol, and the Department of Corrections as a corrections officer at the Church Farm until his retirement in 1994.

Bernie attended Community Christian Church in Blue Eye, Missouri for ten years while he was living with his sister after retirement.

He was an avid fisherman and also loved watching football, especially his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include: two sisters, Ollie Frances of Blue Eye, Missouri and Lyn Williams and her husband Dan of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Norman Clarke and his wife Bonnie of Boonville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and numerous brothers, sisters, half brothers, half sisters, and nephews.

Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10:00 am Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
