     Mrs. Sandra R. Coates, age 49 years, of Jefferson City, Mo,. passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Health Center.

     Mrs. Coates was born on September 6, 1960 in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Christopher Hart and Effie Pardon Hart. She was married on September 2, 1983 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Joe L. Coates, Jr. who survives at the home. 

     Sandra was employed with the Missouri Dept. of Health and Senior Services for several years until ill health forced her retirement.

     She actively supported her children and their activities with being a member of the Jefferson City Jay volleyball, basketball, football, choir, and softball boosters and always enjoyed going to their activities.

     Survivors include: her husband, Joe L. Coates, Jr. of the home; her five children, Chris Wood and his wife Dawn, Laura Bethel, Jeff Wood and his fiancee Melissa Kirsch, Joe Coates III and his wife Ashley, and Tiffany Coates; one sister, Pat Wesselschmidt and her husband Al; one brother, Stan Hart and his wife Lucy; ten grandchildren, Riley Wood, Kyle Wood, Kylee Bethel, Stormee Jenkins, Tyanna Boudrie, Courtney Wood,  one unborn granddaughter, William Gage Coates, Koredelle Coateshill, and Chad L. Hill, Jr.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, one nephew, Anthony Hart and one sister, Yvonne Hart.

     A celebration of life will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday at the Solid Rock Family Church.

     A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Second Baptist Church with the Reverend Cornell Sudduth, Sr. officiating.

     Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Sandra Coates Memorial Fund.

     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

To Sandy's Family: Sandy was a wonderful woman. I worked with her several years before my retirement. She was so friendly and helpful and always had a smile on her face. I was so sad to hear she had passed away. I will be thinking of you, her family, with love and prayers.

My heart is heavy with the news of Sandy's passing. I loved her and will miss her. My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this difficult time.
